Calling all Greenland Hills residents – we need your help! Our membership levels have fallen dramatically this year resulting in a decrease in funds of $10k or the equivalent of 55 members. Unfortunately if this decrease continues,
we will need to reduce patrol hours. Currently only 200 out of a possible
900 households participate in the Crime Watch. So the few are paying for the benefit
of all.
 

What does $10k buy you might wonder? With $10k we can afford two months of
patrol hours, including the patrol car. We currently have enough funds to last through the end of October at our current patrol rate. Without additional funds we
will have no choice but to reduce our patrol hours during the winter months until the January annual memberships renew again.

If you look at the crime statistics in this month’s newsletter you will see the benefit
of Crime Watch. Only 6 crimes out of 46 in our beat occurred in the Greenland Hills area. That’s fantastic! However, 6 crimes are too many and we could use your
help to help lower the number. By becoming a member in Crime Watch you can help ensure that we maintain or increase our patrol hours therefore providing more of
an officer presence.

There are additional benefits to becoming a Crime Watch member. For instance, when you are out of town patrol officers will pay extra attention to your house, pick up papers, mail, etc…as long as you call the officer hotline to alert them to the fact that you are out of town. You will also receive updates on any recent crime activity
through our phone tree. Of course you will also have the knowledge that our neighborhood is a safer place because of your contribution.

We hope you will join this very important neighborhood organization. A membership form to join is included in each newsletter. Take a moment and fill out the form and mail it in along with your check.
