2007 TREE ORDER FORM

DEADLINE IS September 23, 2007

n November 2002, the GHNA organized the the first annual parkway tree planting.  Thanks to the hard work of resident Francis Dezzany, we now have 100 more parkway trees to grace our streets and shade our sidewalks.  The additional trees not only beautify our neighborhood, but also clean the air, make our streets and sidewalks cooler for taking walks, and reduce our electric bills by providing much-needed shade during those hot summer months.

This annual activity is part of Dallas Trees and Parks Foundation's Trees For Dallas program, which the  provides trees to non-profit groups for planting in parkways and other public spaces (not for personal use, such as in the front lawn).

All trees requested through this program must be planted on public property. In our case, this refers to our parkways -- that area between sidewalk and curb.  Trees are scheduled for delivery in October. We will have a neighborhood "Arbor Day" scheduled for planting our trees.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Planting the trees
• Keeping them watered for 2 years
• Replacing any trees that die

According to Dallas Reforestation guidelines, we can request a maximum of 50 trees. It is obvious, from last fall's endeavor, that interest in this project is quite high, so please get your request in as soon as possible to assure that there will be trees available for you! If you have elderly/disabled neighbors who would like to have a tree or two and you'll volunteer to help them with the watering, please submit a request for their trees along with yours. Be sure to list name, address, phone number. Our volunteers will see to it that their trees are planted.

For questions, please contact Tony Farrer, GHNA Beautification Committee Member, at tonyfarrer12@comcast.net.
