Join us to learn more from Larry Offutt about the nonprofit organization Preservation Dallas and its work in the preservation and revitalization of buildings and places in the City of Dallas.

Also, we will have Fall Home Tour Chair Michelle Walker to talk about why Preservation Dallas is featuring Greenland Hills in their upcoming Fall Home Tour fundraiser.

This meeting is a FREE EVENT and is open to all residents of Greenland Hills.

Larry Offutt is a dedicated preservationist based in East Dallas. With a passion for conserving the rich cultural heritage of the city, its neighborhoods, and region, Larry and his wife Glenn have played a pivotal role in preserving and revitalizing historically significant homes, neighborhoods, and landmarks in the Dallas area and beyond. Their experiences as founding members of the Historic Preservation League (now Preservation Dallas) and the Swiss Avenue Historic District—and owning many residences in old East Dallas’s various conservation and historic districts—prepared them to rehabilitate multiple historic residences in San Antonio as well as Coral Gables, Florida and Miami’s Coconut Grove district.

Larry is a current Dallas Landmark Commissioner for District 5, and an active member of Preservation Dallas, Remembering Black Dallas, and the Dallas Historical Society. His expertise and advocacy have been instrumental in safeguarding the cultural and architectural treasures that define our city’s character. His unwavering commitment to the preservation of Dallas historic sites and neighborhoods has helped to ensure that the city’s past remains an integral part of its vibrant future.

Michelle Walker is a realtor focused on historic homes and neighborhoods, with a special focus on preservation, restoration, and adaptive reuse development. As a member of Preservation Dallas, Michelle has served on the preservation issues committee, and organized many tours and events for the Young Professionals – most recently to the newly reopened Longhorn Ballroom. In 2020 she organized and hosted a virtual panel discussion on Dallas’s historic venues with the owners and managers of the Kessler, Texas Theatre, Majestic Theatre, and the Bomb Factory. Michelle also volunteers on the city’s landmark commission task force for Winnetka Heights and Lake Cliff historic districts. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish. Michelle has also been an active member of the Junior League of Dallas for seven years. In her free time, she enjoys live music, yoga, and historic architecture photography.
